If you accidentally delete files or lose them in other ways, you can always turn to a data recovery utility. However, the story changes if a virtual machine becomes unbootable and you have important data on it. This is what Kernel VMDK Recovery was designed for. The software is capable of looking inside VMDK files and extract the data they contain. You can rescue your important files easily, without booting up your virtual machine and trying to run a separate recovery tool.

Kernel VMDK Recovery works on all modern Windows systems, and it can be installed quickly and easily, without making any complicated settings along the way. It doesn't require any special tools or services, and you don't need powerful hardware to run it.

Carrying out the recovery procedure is quite easy. You start by importing a VMDK file, through a standard browsing option, and clicking a button. The software will take you through a few other stages, just like a wizard, during which you can view some basic details about the imported virtual hard disk, specify its file system, and set the program to scan a specific sector range.

Preparing and executing the recovery process may be a bit different with Kernel VMDK Recovery than with other recovery utilities, but once the scanning starts, everything will seem familiar. The data found in the imported VMDK file is presented in an Explorer-like layout, and you can preview each file on the same window. Finally, when you find the files you're looking for, you can just select them and click a button to save them in a location of your choice.

Even if your virtual machine fails to boot, you can still recover the data you've stored on it, without too much effort, thanks to Kernel VMDK Recovery's straightforward and efficient functionality.

Pros

You can recover files you've lost inside virtual machines, without booting them up. Setting up and running a recovery process is quite easy. You can have the software up and running in just a few seconds.

Cons

You may have difficulties with certain VMDK files and file systems.
